Mission

The Puerto Rico Coastal Management Program (PRCZMP) is a partnership led by the Puerto Rico Department of Natural and Environmental Resources to promote the protection, conservation,  sustainable use and socioeconomic development of Puerto Rico’s coastal zone and natural resources.  The PRCZMP is the coastal element of the Puerto Rico Island-wide land use plan.

Program Goals and Objectives

To accomplish this mission, the Coastal Program focuses on four primary goals:

  • Guidance of public and private coastal development;
  • Conduct active management of coastal resources;
  • Foster scientific research; and
  • Promote education, as well as stakeholder and resources users participation as means of promoting sustainable development.
